Shirley Flinn was born in Ontario, raised in British Columbia, and has spent the last three decades enjoying living in Lacombe Alberta, Canada. Working along side her husband of 35 years and raising a family, Shirley, also found time to be involved in training and competing in the sport of purebred dogs with her beloved Wirehaired Pointing Griffons, over the last 17 years. Recently retired, Shirley is devoting even more time to her art work.
Since 1999, she has been exploring art through Workshops and Extension programs at Alberta Colleges and Universities. In 2007 she started painting under the tutledge of Gene Prokop, Ann Waeland and Loraine Ure at Pro's Art School in Edmonton, Alberta.
Shirley's interests are varied and this is reflected in her work. Her subject matter has been her family, pets, and the great outdoors that is at her doorstep.
An active member of the Alberta Community Art Clubs Association,. Her paintings are seen at their annual Central zone show. In 2006, she won the Intermediate award at the zone level and the Hildur Sherbeck award at the Province wide show. Also a member of the Red Deer and District Allied Arts Council and regularly has had pieces juried into their annual Celebration of the Arts show and Members only show. Her work is shown anually at the Lacombe Show and Sale. Shirley has recently become a member of the Portrait Society of Canada. 2008, awarded the Lillian Nunn Scholarship.
Shirley has pieces of work in private collections thru out Canada and the U.S.
